Restoring stone, preserving character.

I undertake the careful restoration of traditional and period stonework, helping to bring old and neglected features back to life while retaining as much of their original character and craftsmanship as possible.

Respecting what is already there.

Every restoration project begins with understanding the existing stonework and the character of the building. I take care to assess what can be retained, repaired or re-dressed before considering replacement, with the aim of preserving as much original material as possible.

Where new stone is required, I carefully select and dress material to complement the existing masonry, considering its colour, texture, age, profile and finish. Whether restoring an old fireplace, replacing a damaged cill or repairing traditional architectural details, I work carefully to ensure that new work sits naturally alongside the original.

I believe restoration should not erase the history of a building. The aim is to repair, preserve and enhance what is already there, allowing the character of the original stonework to remain while giving it a new lease of life.
